Red Moon. When the moon is eclipsed the shadowed part of it is stil hit by light bent around the Earth's atmosphere. Because the blue and green sunlight is scattered by the atmosphere, the result is a dark red or orange moon. This picture, captured by the ToUCam with a 300mm SLR lens attached, was overexposed to capture the red "dark" portion of the moon. |
