On this page are images of the moon with the colours enhanced to show the geologic make-up of the different areas. The technique used is described by Filipe Alves in the July 2005 issue of Sky and Telescope magazine, or on his web page at http://www.colormoon.pt.to.
According to Filipe's website the blue areas are Metal Rich Basalts with Ti > 7%, the brownish areas are Metal Rich Basalts with Ti > 3%, both with more than 15% iron, and the orange areas are Metal poor basalts with Ti < 2% and less than 15% iron.
